At Orchidia Med Spa, we want to provide not only the best treatment but also at the appropriate time based on your needs and schedule. We always want our patients have optimal results with the minimum down time.
The perfect time to have certain procedures will depend not only on the treatment itself but also on your job and social activities.
Injectables and Filler:
Patients who have used aspirin in the past week are not recommended to have injectables due to the blood-thinning properties of aspirin; they may easily bruise because of this. With regard to fillers, one the greatest benefits is that what you see is what you get. There is some minimal swelling and bruising, but for the most part, you will see the results immediately. After a week, most of the swelling should be resolved.
You could expect your doctor to correctly underfill the areas being treated, with the expectation that you may need further sessions. This is a way to ensure that you are not overtreated. Once the filler is put in place, it is very hard to remove it. So, it is better to come back for an additional injection rather than to suffer through months of overcorrection.
Peelings, E-light or Laser treatments:
If a patient is currently using Retin-A (retinol), a chemical peel treatment would need to be postponed. Regular use of Retin-A (or similar creams) improves the conditions of the skin by stimulating collagen production and exfoliating the surface layers of skin. However, it can make you more sensitive to the effects of chemical peels or other peeling or laser treatments. In general we advise to our patients to stop their Retin-A (retinol) one week before having a peel. It will also depend on several factors such as how sensitive your skin is, how long you have been using Retin-A, if you have had chemical peels before, and what your environment is like (winter or summer). Pre-treatment consultations with your Doctor are tremendously important to address these kinds of situations.
Botox or Dysport:
It usually takes 10 to 14 days to see the full effect of Botox or Dysport. In case you have an event where you would like to look great, your Botox or Dysport treatment will need to be applied at least 1- 2 weeks prior, to have the desired results. The first time you use Botox or Dysport you should see that the wrinkles you are treating do not get deeper when you make a facial expression. With repetitive injections the results get even better — as the muscles weaken and the wrinkles remodel with your body’s collagen. We recommend injections every three months if you want the maximal results. After a year or two the Botox or Dysport treatments can be spread out to every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual. This can be kept up indefinitely to maintain a youthful look.
